Le Garage Moderne

Le Garage Moderne is a space in the service of its community: a car and bike repair workshop, a canteen at lunchtime, a bar and cultural programme in the evenings. It is a place built around reuse and doing things yourself, where civic projects and community initiatives take shape. People come for entirely different reasons and end up in the same space at the same time. That creates something you do not find in a regular bar. Conversations happen because the place itself invites you to stop, get involved, and stay.

I had come to get my bike fixed. While I waited, I sat down at the canteen. A woman next to me was working on her laptop. We ordered the same thing from the daily menu, laughed about it, talked. I picked up my bike two hours later.
